No, because our SmartyPaws multifunctional health supplements contain flaxseed. However, technically, flaxseed is a pseudo grain. Pseudo grains don’t come from wheat, rice, oats, cornmeal, barley or other cereal grains, but they have a similar vitamin and mineral profile to grains.

They’re actually seeds from shrubs, plants or grass, like flaxseed. They’re also gluten-free. So, technically, we could say that our products are grain-free because there’s no regulation on this terminology. But we want to be transparent and let consumers know exactly what’s inside our formula.

If you’re concerned about maintaining a grain-free diet for your dog, make sure to check other brand labels for this as some may indicate that they’re grain-free when they actually include flaxseed.

MSM is well-known in the dog supplement world as being a superstar ingredient, but most people don’t know what these three letters mean. MSM or methylsulfonylmethane is a naturally-occurring form of sulfur found in a wide variety of fruits, vegetables and grains.

However, like many other supplement companies, we use a synthetic form of MSM because it allows us to have more control over the purity, potency and stability of this ingredient.
