When should my little one switch from Toddler Formula to Kids Formula?
The age-old question. But the answer is a little fuzzy because not all toddlers mature at the same rate.
This short answer is that our Toddler Formula and Organics Toddler Formula gummies are formulated for toddlers between the ages of 2 – 3, and our Kids Formula and Organics Kids Formula gummies are formulated for children between the ages of 4 – 13. So, when your little one turns 4, it’s time to switch.
However, there are other factors that may affect this recommendation, like weight and height. So, we always recommend checking with a trusted medical professional if you have any questions or concerns about giving your child a new supplement or changing their current one.
Now, here’s a little more background on those age recommendations and the science behind how we formulate our supplements. We use recommendations from the Health and Medicine Division (HMD) to carefully-select our ingredients and the amounts to use. Their guideline for the recommended dietary allowances (RDAs) for vitamins takes into consideration height and weight along with age, and it covers 97% of the healthy population. Often, these recommendations are based on more recent science than the % Daily Values that consumers see on nutrition and supplement fact labels.
These Daily Values are what the FDA uses and lag behind the RDAs. However, the % Daily Values help consumers understand how the amount of a nutrient in a serving of a food, fits into their total daily diet. It also allows them to compare the nutritional value of food products. It’s also why our supplements don’t include 100% Daily Values for all our nutrients across the board. Along with the HMD’s recommendations, we also utilize current research on dietary patterns to ensure that our multifunctional formulas fill typical nutrient gaps in the average Western diet. This way, your child gets a healthy balance of the vitamins and essential nutrients you want and less of what you don’t need – in one easy serving.
But when you have a little one that’s maturing at a slightly different pace than their peers, some of these rules may not apply. That’s why we recommend checking with your doctor if you have any additional questions.
Why do I need to take so many gummies? The recommended dose seems high.
Our multi-functional vitamins are very unique in offering an all-in-one format that combines a full multi-vitamin with omega-3 essential fatty acids, vitamin B12 as methylcobalamin, vitamin D as D3, folate as methylfolate and other key nutrients - ALL in one serving - and ALL from one bottle!
Our gummies are very-nutrient dense - and can be taken all at once - or spread out throughout the day. We hope that our unique all-in-one vitamins offer you greater ease and simplicity (and even-cost savings) in your daily vitamin regimen.
Why are the Men’s Formula gummies all red?
SmartyPants Men’s Formula comes in lemon crème, blueberry, and blackberry – so why are they all red? The color comes from the lycopene found in this formula. At SmartyPants we believe in using only premium ingredients and avoiding the bad stuff. That includes synthetic dyes and colors. So we left those out, along with artificial flavors and sweeteners.
Why Aren’t All SmartyPants Certified Organic?
At this time, our core family of vitamin products can’t be certified organic because they include omega-3 fish oil sourced from sustainable stocks of wild-caught small fish. While this provides a high-quality source of omega-3 EPA and DHA essential fatty acids, it's impossible for our fish oil to be certified organic because we can’t be sure everything these fish ate was organic.
Additionally, the sweeteners (inulin syrup and Lo Han fruit extract) in our Fiber products are not certified organic.
However, if you're looking for a certified-organic and vegetarian multivitamin gummy supplement, make sure to check out our Organic Formulas which include Organics Toddler Formula, Organics Kids Formula, Organics Prenatal Formula, Organics Women’s Formula, and Organics Men’s Formula.
Is there an overdose risk with SmartyPants?
Because our gummies taste really, really good (and people might eat more than they should), we’ve thoroughly researched upper limit tolerances for each of our ingredients with our Scientific Advisory Board.
We want to assure you that the ingredients and amounts in our SmartyPants formulas are safe. We intentionally chose not to include iron in our gummy formulas just in case someone eats a few more gummies than the recommended serving.

How Can I Be Sure Your Labels Are Accurate?
At SmartyPants, we always want to go above and beyond. We test each and every batch of finished product at a third-party lab to make sure that what you read on our labels is what you get in our bottles.
In other words, each batch of finished product undergoes a full panel test to assure that the blend meets all label claims. Furthermore, each batch is tested using verified methods (AOAC, USP, etc.) for the presence of pesticides, residual solvents, microbial contaminants, heavy metals, and gluten.
The test results (our Certificate of Compliance) for each and every batch of finished product is then posted to our website for all to see!
What If I Want to Take More Than the Recommended Serving Size?
If you wish to supplement beyond our products’ recommended serving size, you should do so under the guidance of you health care provider. Since our products contain fat-soluble nutrients, we do not advise children or adults to take more than our recommended serving per day.
Can My 2-Year Old (Or Younger) Take SmartyPants?
We have supplements for children ages 2+. Both our Organic Toddler Formula and Toddler Formula multifunctional supplements are formulated for children 2 to 3 years old. These gummies are slightly smaller than our Kids and Adult formulas and just the right size for little mouths. However, we always recommend that these are taken under adult supervision.
How Should I Store my SmartyPants vitamins?
We recommend storing your SmartyPants supplements in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and other sources of heat.
To maintain the integrity of our supplements, we use opaque bottles versus clear bottles. This is because opaque bottles repel light, and long-term exposure to light can actually degrade vitamins.
Why do SmartyPants products come in white bottles, instead of clear bottles like some of the other vitamins I see on the shelf?
We use white bottles to protect our supplements against the sun’s ultraviolet light, which can affect the nutrient content and the appearance of the product (the natural color and flavor of our gummies can darken over time when exposed to light). Specifically, Vitamins K2 and B12 (as methylcobalamin) are light sensitive, and ultraviolet light leads to free radical oxidation of the omega-3 essential fatty acids in our multivitamins. Not cool!
More good news about the white bottles? They’re made from post-consumer recycled material, because we want to keep both the safety of the nutrients and our planet in mind.
