How much do I need?

Current recommended daily intake (RDI) for Vitamin B6 is 2 mg for adults and children over the age of 4, and 0.66 mg for children ages 3 and younger.

Why we include it

Humans can’t make their own B6, so we must get it from food. Even if you eat plenty of B6-rich foods, however, significant amounts of vitamins and minerals can be lost during harvesting, cooking, freezing, and processing. This vitamin is so important, we like to include it at 100% or more in all our SmartyPants products. If you don’t need that much, B6 is water-soluble, so your body will eliminate whatever it doesn’t use.

  • 3 oz pork – 0.7 mg
  • 3 oz beef – 0.6 mg
  • ½ cup sunflower seeds – 0.5 mg
  • ½ cup prunes – 0.5 mg
  • 1 banana – 0.4 mg
  • 1 cup spinach – 0.44 mg
